noise,
Straight vs. layback comes down to your position over the pedals in line with your leg lenght. If you have run the straight post, you should be good with out straight.

I like to use a thin coat of waterproof grease in the seat tube ...anti seize only gets on your nice bibs.

Thanks!

Definitely, thanks for all the help. I'm going with a Moots Cinch for it after all.
Any problem with running the straight as opposed to the setback on the 56cm?
I'll be okay right? Whats the best compound to use for it to not slip and what not?

noise,
Next step would be to put a caliper on the post. We've seen some under-sized issues from time to time....double check with a good caliper.

Grommit...no need. Really haven't seen them used. I know our frames don't come with them...did it come with the post?

Thanks,

Hey Jon, thanks for the swift response. I have a 2010 Moots built for Hampsten
Basically a 2010 Vamoots CR...
The seatpost if definitely the right size.. (27.2)
I also lost the grommit or rubber o-ring/wedge that goes between the ears of the collar. do I need it?
And is it possible to obtain one from you guys? Wouldn't know what size it is or where to look.
Thanks!

Noise,
Hmmm, not a common problem we here of. A couple of items to check:

1. Seat post diameter matches the frame. What frame do you have?

2. Proper torque of the seat collar/ seat binder. You can find all of our torque specs here: http://moots.com/wp-content/uploads/OFFICIAL-MOOTS-TORQUE-SPECS-PDF.pdf

Let me know what frame you have.

Thanks,

I recently had an issue with my Thomson Masterpiece slipping, and was wondering if anyone had that problem with the "creaking" or "popping" sound. I tried all the remedies like anti-seize, FSA carbon paste, grease/re-grease.. The creak/pop sounds stops with normal grease but then it has the occasional seatpost slipping.
Thanks guys.. I need this nightmare to go away!
Would a Ti seatpost solve the problem? I plan on getting a Cinch post for it anyway to change the position up.
