craig,
Good question and it's probably best to contact King on that one. I would assume being Chris King the slip-in 24mm adaptors would be spaced in order not to have to use the additional spacer. From what they tell me there will be a Shimano slip in and a GXP version as well.

In my opinion using a 24mm spindle in a PF30 set up misses out on part of the advantage of the system as a whole. Why not use a lighter crank? But I do understand the need for Shimano users to complete the groupo with the crank as well.

I'll send King a note and ask about the spacing of the spacers....

Thanks,

Teamfubar, thats not really the answer I am looking for.
Moots are using the 68mm PF30 BB(mainly a road standard) on their MTBs and as it stands as far as I know any conversion(with a pf30 bb) to use Shimano cranks also requires the use of adapters and spacers.
The common standard for PF30 in MTB's is a 73mm BB shell.
I thought Jon might have more insight.
Jon.....?

They are supposed to be offering a PF30 in a 30mm, a 24mm and a step down 30-24 model as well (using King made spacers).

Great news!! If the King PF30 BB turns out to be as great as their other products, then this is a home run for both Chris King and Moots. Should make the decision to jump on the RSL line even easier. Can't wait to get one for my PX RSL.

Any idea when these might make it to retail customers?

There are starting to be good 24's & 25's on the market that ride nice and give that big tire ride quality that work really well with the RSL set up.....

Tour of the Battenkill is right around the corner and I'm wondering if anyone has tried the 27 Pave's Tubulars on a Vamoots RSL yet . . . It's time to buy the tires, and before laying down $250 I thought I'd check back in. While I am very excited about my epic new frame and bombproof C35s, Pave 27s would make the whole setup a dream come true.

I'm pretty sure Ron does not have a bead blast machine....

I can tell you we use a glass bead, I don't mean to be secretive, but we do have to have some.

Thanks,

If I were to be looking for a local person to do the bead blasting, what do I look for? i.e. some kind of autobody paint shop, or something else?

Great post Guys.
I live in Australia and have an 03 SL Compact that could really do with a re-blast.
Sending it back to Moots to have it done is just not cost effective.
So I've considered getting it done here and am wondering exactly what material is used and if there would be any problems?
Maybe Jon could help here.

Thanks
Craig

Has anyone asked Ron at King Cage if he can do it or have a bead blaster in Durango bead blast a batch of his cages? I spoke with Ron a few days back and he is a really nice guy... shoot him an e-mail and ask: kingcage@animas.net

If you have a chance, visit his site and check out the video... pretty funny! http://www.kingcage.com

Jon -

Can you share the shop's name - perhaps they have some in stock that I can order over the phone? If I have to wait until you guys decide to offer them, so be it. But if I can get them in my grubby little hands ASAP that would be cool.

Thanks -

Gents,
We have been blasting cages for a dealer in Palo Alto, Ca. This has lead to the discussion of offering them on our site, pre-blasted. We don't have a price for doing them at the moment. I'll update when we do.

A few of us have done our own and it does look really nice on our frames.

More to come.

Thanks,

WGP,

I doubt Moots will waste there time to bead blast other products (but possible Jon will let you know).

I had my King Ti Cages Bead Blasted by the fine folks at Spectrum Powder Works in Colorado Springs. Spectrum also Titanium Etched my decals into my frame so it was easy for them to blast the cages. Call Spectrum and ask what they would charge? http://www.spectrumpowderworks.com/spwcontact.html

Any local shop with a bead blaster could do it for you, I believe Moots uses a 00 Glass Bead Material pretty common. The cages look fantastic after the bead blasting to match the frame, I can tell the difference.
