Now I now I've been particularly crap at getting to these shin digs, thanks to broken bones and not looking at my diary closely enough, so as much as I'd finally love to get down and meet you guys I'm going to have to wait until I know for sure whats going on. Might be a last minute dash down the highway, but if I can, I will...

Hi Folks,

I know we've had some spam problems here lately, but if anyone's interested, planning a trip to Forrest (VIC) on the weekend 10+11 Nov.

If anyone is interested, your welcome to join us. We've booked a few cabins at the caravan park and have room to car pool if anyone is interested.

Plan is to bail out of town Friday night and drive down, ride part of the southern trailhead (4+5+6 loop probably) then stop in down for a lunch/beer/afternoon nap and then blast out for 1+2+3 loop.

Stay overnight Sat and then do loop around the Yaughter trails on Sunday morning and head back to Melb after lunch.

It's a pretty casual, low key sort of gathering, on arguably some of the best trails in VIC if not Oz.

Hi Jon,

Thank you for your reply.

I'll go for the 2012, size 19"
I think you've had a contact yesterday with Jerome from France about it.

I'm already thrilled about it.
I'm the kind of hard tail guy who likes racing a bit from time to time and want the best of both worlds (reactivity and comfort)

XD,
There are some big differences in the 2009 vs. the 2012. Most notably is the 44mm head tube. This feature on the 2012 really makes the front end of the bike much stiffer....this also allows the use of a tapered fork as well.

We also re-vamped the geometry to a bit longer top tube, which allows the use of a shorter stem....this gives a better feel to the handling. One more thing is with the 44mm head tube the stack is less and will allow the front end to be lower which is always a good thing on the 29er's.

That's my .2 cents.

Thanks,

Hi,

I'd like to give the X YBB a try.
Unfortunately, it's not the kind of bike you find at every corner streets, at least in Belgium.

So, I could buy a second hand frame (2009) for about 60% of the price of a 2012.
If I had to buy a 2012 model, I'd go for a 19".
2009 model TT is 2cm (0.75") shorter, is it still a good choice?

Good thing about the 2009 is that I could use all parts of my current Salsa El Mariachi Ti, even the Lefty fork on it.
Leftys are short (475mm) and I think it Will better suit the geometry of the 2009 model.

I need some advice, should I spend the extra bucks and go for a 2012 model or won't I even feel the difference?
I suppose that a lefty on a 2012 model is not a good option?

Thank you.

(Oops, thought this was a MootoX RSL thread, not sure how to move/delete it)

I am building a 2011 Moots MootoX RSL this week.

3-page initial coverage, along with hi-res image gallery of the frameset:
http://windinmyface.diglloyd.com/Moots-2011MootoX_RSL-gallery-frame.html

Will be using 26 X 38 Shimano XTR. I'm told that 28 X 40 just *barely* clears and is not advised, and I want the lower gearing anyway for rides like the Trek to the Summit of White Mountain Peak:
http://windinmyface.diglloyd.com/index_topics.html#WhiteMountainPeakChallenge

Those adapters weren't available when I built up my RSL, but I've been very happy with the SiSL crank with my 11v setup. I'd be curious to hear how the Campy adapters work with a ti PF BB30 bottom bracket (since avoiding metal-to-metal contact was one of the reasons given for going with the PF BB30 standard).

Anything other than a round 7mm rail will not work with the Cinch post.

We may in the future have something that will accomodate the larger-non-round rails, but nothing coming soon.

Thanks Jon.

drdontoms build is raising another question. He is planning a Fizik Antares carbon saddle. The rails of Fiziks carbon saddles are increased to 9mm in the middle part, though. Will those rails fit into the rail groove of the Moots seat post which is designed for 7mm?

Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Campy produces a Press Fit BB30 adapter cup that is available through QBP, by an bike shop. They fit great and allow you to run a full Campy groupo.
