Nice going! Emerson told me that he had sold the bike to someone in California.

If that was you Slacker, I think Emerson owes me a finders fee!

My Vamoots CR should be ready for pickup today. Too bad we just had a snowstorm in Calgary!

My friend Emerson, who runs Campione Cycles here in Calgary, has a new 62 cm Moots Vamoots with S and S couplers for sale. It was mistakenly ordered instead of the Vamoots CR (with couplers).

I told him I'd put out this notice to the Moots community to see if there's any other big guys out there in need of a fantastic travel bike.

Thanks

White Industries just released a rear disc hub with 130mm spacing so anybody with an old Psychlo X that has Moots throw some disc tabs on can run disc hubs. Looks like the market is moving toward 135mm for disc equipped 'Cross bikes but good to know the guys at White have me covered.

I was thinking of maybe going with Vittoria Pave's, I used their tubular version (27mm) and it's a good tire (even if it has those gay looking green striped treads...).

Mavic does make a good rim, I remember running a set of GP4 years ago on a Bianchi and beat the hell outta them and they stayed true (guess that says a lot about the wheel builder too).

Those white hubs are nice... check out PMP hubs, those are sweet too. If I didn't already have a set of Record hubs still in their boxes lying around I'd give them a try, and the new Chris King R45 hubs look tempting too. I'm glad to see they finally made a Campy compatible hub.

Lots of choices...

I'm commuting on a pair of Mavic Open Pros laced to White Industries hubs. I've found that Kenda Small Block 8's wear like iron and are solid unless things get really nasty. I think it's the best balance of limited rolling resistence and bite tire-wise. I figure if the Reflex version is good enough for Jon C. at Nats, the clinchers are good enough for my commute.

Want to get a set of clincher wheels built for my PX which I'm now using for commuting. I've been using my tubulars but need something more practical in case (when...) I get a flat.

For the tire, I'm looking for something with a tread that's good on asphalt and light trail riding, basically a 'go anywhere' (almost) tread without being an outright cross tread, would also be nice if it has a robust casing to resist cuts.

For the rims, I'd like to use a spare set of Campy record hubs (36 hole) I have in my parts box to build the wheels so rims also gotta have 36 holes. Wheels have to be robust to take some abuse, I'm thinking 36/3X/14 front & back. I've been eyeballing DT Swiss TK540 rims but they are on the heavy side.
Thx,

D.

Just thought for those of you that haven't got one of these engineered miracles of loveliness, I just bought one (granted second hand) and fitted it this morning. Utterly stunning, but most importantly, why oh why doesn't everyone do a headjoint/saddle rail interface like this ???? It took me longer to reattach my rear light to the seatpost than it did to fit the saddle, no more faffing around with Thomson's for me, nosiree !

Now, how, oh how can I get new decals for it without having to pay the standard $27.50 postage to the UK !!!!!!!!!!!! Surely there must be a cheaper option, it's the same cost as it would be if you were shipping a whole seatpost !!!!!!!!

Is there anything we can sort out here Jon ?

But my God, it is just so lovely. Thank you Moots !

I'm considering a new singlespeed, with the mooto-x and indy fab ti at the top of the list. About the only thing that concerns me is the rear tire clearance. I've read where JonC says 2.3 is ok, yet others have posted that 2.25's are really close. For my riding I'd want a 2.25 Ardent, and hate to think it'd be right at the upper limit of what fits. Anyone run this tire on theirs that can comment?

I love the idea of the RSL being able to take 2.4's...any chance the formed chainstays will make it over to the mooto-x eventually, allowing better clearance?

Thinking about going with a Lefty on the MootoX YBB. For those of you that have tried it....feedback? What headset did you use? It seems as if there is very little clearance between the Lefty clamps and the combination of the HT length + headset, in fact, it looks like it will not fit with a CK headset.

The part of my cyclo rims that interacts with brake pads takes a beating with the stuff from the trail/road, not to mention bike gunk. How should I clean the rim? My German bud that I respect says use acetone or paint lacquer. Others say use fine steel wool, though that makes me less confident. Thoughts? Thanks.
