Thanks Jon. That's what I figured, which is why I asked!

Gents,
The early issue Cinco did have a 28.6 post diameter. We then went to the standard 27.2. The Aluminum insert inside is not to be removed. It provides some structual enforcement to the seat tube and brings it to the 28.6 diameter.

My advice would be to go with the 27.2 diameter with a shim to bring it out to 28.6.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

thanks,

I have the first year's model and the first year or two had the largest sizes (19.5" and 21") bumped up to a 28.6 post, so I'll have to shim any of the 27.2 posts. I was just trying to open up my possibilities. I'll look at the Gravity Dropper...thanks for the tip.

Hey Teamfubar....I am new to the forum but have been riding a Cinco with an adjustable seat post and love it. I thought the seat tube diameter on the Cinco was 27.2. I am using a 27.2 gravity dropper turbo and it works great. When I put it on there were not a lot of options for 27.2 seat posts. The Kind Shock looks great and unless I am wrong the 27.2 should fit nicely. I have been looking at the newer adjustable seat posts also as they provide a wider range of adjustability. And by the way, they are the ticket for steep, tight and twisted singletrack.
Peace

I'm thinking about getting one of those adjustable-height seatposts for my Cinco, but they don't come in a 28.6mm size. Most are in a 30.9 or a 31.6 diameter, although Kind Shock is coming out with a 27.2 with a remote reservoir, so I could shim it up to the 28.6 if necessary.

Inside the seat tube of the Cinco, there is what appears to be an aluminum sleeve/shim that obviously reduces the diameter (but maybe also adds some sort of structural integrity to the frame). SO, the question I have for Jon (or perhaps someone else with this experience), is the sleeve/shim that is built into the frame removable? If so, can the frame be run without it? If so, what is that diameter?

Thanks!
