Back in June we had the honor of hosting the fine gents from The Rapha Continental here at Moots. We have been involved with the project on a builder level for a few years. We have hosted them for a Continental ride through the country side that surrounds our little mountain town, we have fielded a team for the East Coast Gentlemen’s Race and next week, we will do the same for the gents race in and around Portland, Oregon.
During the visit in June the Rapha Continental riders were to ride each stage of the upcoming USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The day they rode from Gunnison to Aspen (over two monster passes) one of the riders had a bad crash and ended up in the hospital. Thankfully he will live to ride another day, but the next days stage was passed over in order to recover and collect their thoughts. Instead of riding the stage into Steamboat, they spent the day touring our place, learning more about the bikes and got to know more of the crew from Moots.
The film does a great job touching on what makes Moots…well, Moots.
I have to tell you that our town is really excited about the race coming this way. Just yesterday we got to ride with Andy Schleck, who has been spending some time in Steamboat Springs, riding, fly-fishing and kicking back in Northwest Colorado. If you happen to be coming this way during the Pro Cycling Challenge, please stop by and say hi, take a tour and get some local knowledge of not-to-miss ride routes…..we’d love to see you!
