This time of year is tuff for us snow-bound mountain dwellers. The snow piles up, the roads and trails have disappeared long ago, the cold seems like it will never leave. The good news is we are gaining about 2 minutes of daylight each day. So we have that going for us…. I notice that on my bike commute home…I still have to use the lights, but only to be “seen” by the absent minded car drivers…still light enough to make out shapes of the crusty ice and snow that I encounter every day.
Dreaming of getting away to a warmer place, to ride if only in arm warmers and tights. The gross amount of clothing one has to wear to cycle in our winter is really starting to weigh me down…both physically and mentally. Clothes on, clothes off…layer upon layer.
Soon we will escape to the high desert of Fruita, Moab or the front range of Colorado to ride where they have it easy.
For now the sunset above will have to pull us through.
