A couple of weeks ago a hand full of Moots builders went off on a small bike touring trip around our region of the state. The weeks leading up to the trip they dialed in their rack systems and the light weight gear they would need to make the 3 day trip around the outside of the wilderness area that sits just north of Steamboat. They cross the Continental Divide 3 times during the trip, with countless “other” climbs in between.
This route varies in length depending on your choice of bicycle. If you choose a mountain bike and single track trail the route ends up to be 150 miles with just about 90 miles of trail.
Our band of four brothers chose to use loaded cross bikes (3 of them) and one loaded mountain bike for the trip on the dirt roads that circle theMt. Zirkel Wilderness Area. Their trip ended up at 170 miles total.
Below are the notes, highlights and photos (view more on our Moots Flickr page) from the trip. Yes, there were firearms involved, maybe a small amount of drink.….but not too much.
