Our own Kassi Sell presents Lift-Up Executive Director David Freseman with a $500 check….
Here at Moots we have a commuting rewards program, where each time you commute to work using anything but a car you get $1 towards your account. Commute by skis, commute by foot, commute by snowshoes, commute by public transportation and of course commute by bike is our favorite. Each day we do so you get that $1. It can go towards the never ending parts we buy for our bikes, or you can put it towards a group effort to benefit a charitable organization here in town.
This year we have come up with $500 to put towards this effort. We have chosen LIFT-UP of ROUTT COUNTY as the recipient, a “grass-roots” 501c3 non-profit organization that provides emergency food and personal products to our community. In 2010 alone, they provided $413,000 of in-kind food and clothing assistance to just over 7,500 people.
$500 is not a huge amount of money these days, but to be part of the greater good makes those commute days even that much more special. And to think, all we did was ride a bike to work. Nicely done by all at Moots!
