1ST MOOTO X RSL ROLLS OUT….
Brock Webster (owner of Orange Peel Bicycle Service) is just a little happy to receive the first production MX RSL
On Friday March 18th, 2011 Moots delivered the very first production Mooto X RSL frame to Orange Peel Bicycle Service here in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The history of this shop and location of the shop as the birthplace of Moots is a huge part of Moots. You see, back in 1981 when Moots built it’s very first frame, it was inside the historic “dome” of Sore Saddle Cyclery on 1136 Yampa Ave. Flash forward to 2011 and you will find Brock Webster (proprietor of Orange Peel Bicycle Service) and his crew of top self staff occupying the same location, carrying the Moots torch onward.

So, with that type of history in that building it was a great pleasure to hand deliver the very first MX RSL to their doorstep on Friday afternoon. Somewhat of a full-circle-moment for us. From those first frames to the most modern mountain bike frame we have built…there is 30 years of Moots frame building history to be told from that one location.
The candy case at the “OP”
The frame itself was an 18” size and going to a rider that owns 4 Moots between him and his wife. Phil of Phoenix Arizona is the lucky rider that will be throwing his leg over the finished rig in no time. The entire Moots crew signed a poster wishing him well and rumor has it he will be coming to Steamboat this summer to race our local town series races on his new rig…..now that is full circle indeed.
To: Phil…from: the Moots crew!
The build:
Phil is going with an XTR build, using the Sram XX crank (Press Fit BB30), DT 190 hubs laced to Stans Crest rims, King in-set 44mm headset, Fox F29 15mm thru-axle fork, Moots RSL stem, Moots 30.9 post….not a bad build!
30 years of Moots in the “Dome”
Once Phil has brought this beauty back to race in Steamboat we’ll post some pics of the finished and raced rig.
Should be a great summer for Phil.
The “OP“…year round bikes!
