Jill Damman is a member of our GrassMoots Team and gets out on a fair bit of adventures when she can.  Touring some Colorado vinyards is among those adventures and what better way to do so than with her husband and a nice pair of Moots 29ers? She writes in this month about their trip…..

My husband and I had never been to the Palisade, CO area before and decided this might be a great way to see some wineries and other scenery, as well as get some exercise. The tour took us 25 miles to several different wineries over the course of about 6 hours.

The biking pace was about right. I haven’t biked to vineyards before and I found it to be pretty fun and easy.  We were biking right on the shoulders of roads, and cars would move over or slow down, so that aspect was very comfortable!

The wine tastings were all good. I think each tour varies greatly, but we visited Colterris wines, Plum Creek Cellars, Garfield Estates Vineyard.

We loved our experience and kept laughing all day at our “choose our own adventure” attitude.

I’d do it again and recommend it to friends of any age!
With the sun shining down, the majestic Mount Garfield and Grand Mesa standing guard and smooth road ahead, there is no better way to experience Palisade, Colorado, than on your bike.

You’ll get to see Palisade orchards and vineyards up close by riding East Orchard Mesa between Highway 6 in Palisade and Colorado 141 south of Clifton. Begin at 38 Road in Palisade, which takes you zigzagging through grapevines, peach, apple and cherry trees and two wineries with public tasting rooms. At E Road, turn left one D 1/4 Road and continue following the road, which will continue heading south and west. When you get to 32 Road/Colorado 141, head north and then east on D 1/2 Road. Continue heading north and east until you reach Palisade.

We are teaming up with New Belgium Brewery (which is the official beer of the tour) to raise money for **Alliance for Sustainable Colorado by offering up the winner of the raffle their Moots dream bike build.

What’s that you say? You’d love to win a Moots? AND you are going to be in Colorado for the USA Pro Tour Challenge? Well, if that is the case you can pony up some money for raffle tickets each day of the tour and have a really good chance to win a Moots worth about $9,000.00 bucks and contribute to a great cause at the same time!

The winner has the choice of a road, mountain or cross bike.  A Moots titanium frame, stem, seat post and, if applicable, road or cross fork, will be built up with a top notch bulid kit to create the winner’s dream bike.
