A short walk around the Moots booth as well as a look at The Corner Office before our Moots, IMBA & Mountain Flyer Happy Hour on Saturday night.

Friday February 22nd will see the kick off of the NAHBS show 2013 in Denver, Colorado.  For Moots this year, the show holds a special place in our hearts since it is on home soil.  Our time to really play host and shine as a builder.  Over the last sevaral months we have been working on a project bike.  It’s a one off, built by a group and will be shown with pride over the 3 day show.  Built with a purpose in mind and to really show our skills as metal workers.  Titanium is in our blood and it is the material of choice for Moots for over 20 years.

Click on the link below to get more insight into this bike that was a labor of love, love of trails, love of riding bikes and love of building bikes…….  We hope you like what you see.

The bike bar…..

We have featured several Moots Dealers on our blog over the years….all very special in their own way.

Recently we have been working on a project with a new Moots Dealer that is located in Calabasas, California.  Again, very special in their own way…..but this Moots Dealer goes beyond those words.

We would like to introduce Pedaler’s Fork and The Shop at Pedaler’s Fork.  This team of passionate cyclist and foodies is building out a historic Calabasas building into an amazing farm-to-table restaurant, 10-Speed Coffee Shop and Moots concept store.  Yes, I said Moots concept store….the first ever of its kind.  You will be able to sit, eat, enjoy a coffee and peruse the collection of Moots models in the shop…even during non-shop hours.  Vamoots RSL’s, MX Ybb, Comooter, Frosti snow bike and Psychlo X models staring back at you as you enjoy amazing meals and coffee.

Rims and spokes….stools.

There are no other brands of bikes in the shop…no clutter to hide the beauty.  Rustic wood, rough steel and thoughtfully placed hints of cycling fill the building.

Every detail…..

Ride fuel.

The restaurant and shop will serve as a jumping off point for many well ridden routes both on the road and on the trail. Out on a ride in the area and need a quick adjustment?…. Stop in, sit and sip a cup of 10 Speed Coffee that is as fresh as they come…..the beans roasted on sight.  Want to take that special some-one to a nice meal? Take an evening to sit and dine and have a drink…. …Moots wine is on the list….

Farm-to-table meals….

Pedaler’s Fork is something very special and we feel very fortunate to be part of this new way to enjoy our passion.  What could be better than Moots bikes, fresh food and coffee to fuel your ride?

Bikes on the mind….all the time.

Keep an eye out for the opening in the first week of March.  We’ll be posting updates and planning a visit in the early summer.  For now you can enjoy some photos, concepts and please….cruise on over to their Face Book page and spread the word.

Tons of natural light….

Stay tuned…..much more to come!

GrassMoots rider Matt Montrose writes in this week about getting his season rolling….both literally and figurativley….The nesessary evils of training inside….

While some racers are just hanging up their bikes after an extended American cyclocross season others, like me, are just starting to spool up their spring training campaigns.

Indoor riding is a necessary evil, and no matter what kind of tools, tricks or games I try to incorporate into my workouts there’s an inexorable drudgery that goes along with stripping a bicycle of its awesomeness and reducing it to a pedal-powered treadmill.  My current setup shown above is my ’08 Moots Compact Custom, a set of rollers with resistance and a TV/DVD player with wireless headphones.  Mindless but entertaining action movies like The A-Team and 300 make frequent appearances.  I tried watching some horror films last winter and found the low production values and thin stories lines to be too tough to sit through.  It turns out you can be a snob about anything if you try hard enough.

The weather the last few weeks has been very unpredictable with scarce snow and wildly fluctuating temperatures.  Some local guys have been riding outside while others have been more ski-focused.  I’ve never really been good at focusing on more than one thing so I feel like I’ve neither hit my ski groove nor gotten over the gag reflex of grinding out hour after hour riding inside.

Really none of this is new news- it’s the same old cycle every winter, and right around now I’m seriously jonesing to hit the trails.  I know it’s still a few weeks away and every workout now will make riding outside more enjoyable.  Theoretically I’m working towards the Wildcat 100 on May 11, but the more tangible goal is fitting back into the pants that fit over the summer.

And before you ask- no, I don’t move that stack of wood out of the way before I start riding because if I bump into it and fall off it gives me an excuse to stop.
